Makeover!!

A makeover of what?  Me?  No, it my necklace^^  Well I have been so called slaking due to many reasons.  Importantly is that, the shop which I always get my art clay silver was sadly closed down.  However, I managed to find another jewellery shop that sells Precious Metal Clay (PMC) and that means that I have to totally clean up my tools if I am getting PMC.  Art clay silver and PMC contain different types of binders that cannot be mixed together but they can be used as an 'add on' the fired fine silver pieces.  I have been spending some time 'repairing' and 'upgrading' the old pieces.  The results were out today and I am so excited to show them to you.  Also I have made some matching earrings for the flower necklaces.  They will be out in my Etsy shop soon^^

BEFORE

AFTER
Sorry for the pictures as it was raining when I was taking the shots.  I really do not like the silver to look so "blue"...I'll retake the pictures again.  Anyway what do you think?  I have added some textures to the surfaces and also the middle part.  The result is so so so much better^^

This was a repaired piece of a seperated oval base and 3 petite flowers.  Basically, I just joined them together.  The result is great!!

Another piece that was so called 'upgraded'^^ Simple and sweet!

I am happy to be featured again

My comfortable working space

Remember I promised to blog about my working space yet I am too lazy to do that.  Then my team, the Aspiring Metalsmiths that I joined recently came up with the idea of blogging each of our workspace.  I have taken some photographs just now and I really hope that you would not be disappointed to see it...Haha...I am in the middle of fixing the metal clay work, the broken harp that some already knew about it.  Hence my workspace is a little bit in the untidy mode, so I would like to apologize first.

I am fixing the strings of the broken harp.  I mostly just throw everything into the black container.  Fast and easy...Haha...  See my magnifying glass??  I used it for small and delicate work^^
Music I always enjoy!! Glenn Gould and Karajan^^
Another side of my desk.  Filled with tools.  I am not so organized as I only started making metal clay jewelery for 5 months.  Probably it is time for me to get some racks to hang my tools and pliers.
Just a close up... One of my cats, named Zhu Rou.  Meaning 'Pork'.  My BF came up with the name...  Zhu always like to hang around my working space.
An unfinished painting and untouched for 2 years.  Hope to finish it during this Dec break when my students are away for holiday.
I do not use torch to fire my clay.  As I am using art clay silver, I can fire the metal clay pieces using this stove.  Asian like me love to use it to eat 'steamboat'.  Normally the stove will be on the middle of the table.  The pot will be filled with chicken broth and we will just dump all the ingredients we like to eat inside and chat while waiting for them to be cooked...A Chinese culture^^  My mom would probably be looking for it...

Please check up the workspace of my other talented teammates. Definitely OOAK interesting workspaces!!

New pendants!!

New works of mine.  I love the sunflower pendant, it is even nicer when seeing the real one.  Very sweet and delicate looking.  However, some parts of the harp need to be repaired, so it is not available in my shop.  But I am still excited to show you the harp pendant^^

Vintage Style necklace

Playing with art clay silver can be fun but the oxidizing process works wonders too.  This a vintage lacy style pendant which I have crafted recently.  In order to make the pendant more 'old' and vintage, I have oxidized it only for about 10 seconds.   Beautiful and unique isn't it???

Flower, flower, flower...

These are some of my new works.  I love them as I love flower!  They are just so sweet though in simple and plain designs.  Some are available in my etsy shop now.

Aspiring Metalsmiths

What is the very first though that comes inside your mind when you hear the word ‘metalsmiths’??  It is WOW for me.  As a grown up in Singapore, it is really hard to find many who create jewellery at home using this metalsmith technique.  I have started using art clay silver since 3 or 4 months ago and I truly enjoy the experiences.   If you are looking for some other different kind of experience rather than cooking or sewing, this is really highly recommended.  Happily, I have known some really talented metal smiths from etsy who make really nice jewellery!  I would like to introduce some of rings they created^^  Do check up their shop too.
