Appreciated!!

I think those rookies like me who first opened their shop in Etsy should have the same expression like what I thought. The saddest thing is that the competition is so great and stressful until I wondered if my creations are up to the market and standard...I was showered with doubts and anxiety and of course stress. The common conclusion is "Not many people like my works"
But I was very happy when I read the reviews given for my shop at Or so she says blog. Really flattering and made my day^^ So I would like to share with you^^
This is what Mariel said about my shop:
'I love jewelry, you already know that. But, there's something extra special about the jewelry from JoypeckJoy that's hard to describe. Maybe "innocent"? Angelic? Light and Pure? Heavenly?? Yep, in heaven...I think this is what our jewelry will look like :). The jewelry in this shop is seriously beautiful, with plenty of sparkle...made by an artist (and children's art teacher) in Singapore. Many of her pieces are inspired by actual things she sees in nature, like pollen, a yucca flower, the northern lights, etc. I love that! What better inspiration for beauty than nature?'

Thanks ya Mariel and Jessica!!!

Flea 'Dirt'

Even through this is a blog about my jewellery career but I am very interested to share what I know about cats and dogs to all of the animal lovers. So the question is....What is flea ‘dirt’?? Let me answer that question later.

There was a flea infestation a few days ago on my dogs; of course my precious Teddy could not escape it. Hence it becomes a habit for me to look for fleas and ticks on him every day to the stage that I believe “I LOVE catching fleas and ticks”. While.... a moment of love and care for my dogs seems to cultivate a fetish out of me. Then I happened to find many black spots, about 20-30 on the belly and back of Teddy’s lovely pinkish skin today. They look like a lot of fleas on him but are not. I checked on the other dogs but they are free of it. Of course I was frightened and went online to check what those things actually are. The mystery was solved in 20mins in this website http://vetmedicine.about.com/.

Janet Tobiassen Crosby, DVM says ‘Flea "dirt" is the common name for what looks like bits of black pepper or dirt on your pet's skin and in the hair coat. It is actually the flea feces, composed mainly of the blood meal ingested by the flea from your pet. The blood is dried out, giving it a black, crackly appearance and texture. To test this, wet a cotton ball or paper towel and add some of the "black pepper" material. If it dissolves into a reddish-brown material, it is very likely flea dirt, and indication of a flea problem for your pet.’

Well, I tested it and it's true!! I gave Teddy a shower, see how nervous he always is when taking a shower (his always hide his ears when he is scare, sad, nervous or alert) ...most of the flea dirt came off during the bath, so I finally could relax again...

These are the 2 earrings I made during the weekend. I bought a hammer and iron plate recently as I saw so many jewellery crafter create their own earhooks, bracelets with the hammer, so I think it must be very useful. Pictures tell a thousand words

I am very particular in compositions, colours and background when I post my jewellery for photo shooting. I personally think that the way I set up the background and props is critical especially when the items I created are too simply or too bold. The background can tune up the taste of the object, to spice up and create an urge for the viewers and satisfy their eyes’ appetite or just simply turn people off. I always hunt down props to match my compositions until I have too many of them...so I think it is time for me to balance my desires as after all, I am selling jewellery instead of pictures. However, I do enjoy the process but somethimes hate it when the shots are bad. In order to satisfy my mine ego as a so called "artist", I now created a top 3 charts of my favourite shots. Tells me which are your favourite 3 pictures after you have checked up my shop and you will receive a '15% off your purchase voucher' (* excluding shipping fee) to grab something from my shop^^ This entry will end on the 30th of Jan ( just comment in this blog with the 3 listings, give me some reasons why you choose so and twitter me ) Here's mine...

The very first one and my all time favourite is....

No.1 En noir et blanc - sterling silver and swarovski crystal lariat.

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31286146

I reallylove the comtemporary design of this lariat. As I said before, I love to play around with differents shades of a colour, adding layers and similar shapes around to make the lariat more unqiue. And, I have recently give this lariat a makeover. I'll try to post it up as soon as possible, so stay tune if you are interested in this.

No. 2 Passion of the nature - magnesite turquoise coins and white howlite stones bracelet http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=31075833
I love the strong and bold design of it even through this may look earthy. But isn't it the characteristic of the power of nature?

No3. The Red flamenco - Mocha and red swarovski crystals and filigree charm earrings

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=35107608

I always have a weakness when things are in white, red, black and grey. These are the colours which I often used in my painting. Probably I'll post some of my favourite paintings out of my treasure box...have to dig out my pictures... I named this pair of earrings after the show "strictly ballroom" A super nice show about ballroom dancing. Especially during the last part when the the mexican gal danced with the man ...sorry I forgot their names... Maybe I'll dig out the show again...
